Our hospice and palliative program seeks to provide supportive care to patients with a critical or terminal illness. Palliative care may begin immediately after diagnosis and seeks to improve quality of life. Palliative therapies strive to relieve pain, symptoms, and stress caused by the illness while allowing the patient to maintain their desired activity level to the extent possible. Palliative care includes special focus on the psychological and spiritual needs of the patient.
Beginning after treatment of illness has ceased, hospice care addresses the patient’s physical, emotional, spiritual needs as they near the end of life. Our hospice care services seek to keep the patient as comfortable as possible while preserving their dignity and quality of life. Hospice patients receive nursing, emotional and pastoral care. Medicare may provide benefits for hospice care in some circumstances. See Medicare.gov for more information.
